Veterans' Services

Veterans’ Services programs are mandated in accordance with Massachusetts General Law and are administered under state guidelines to provide information, advice and assistance regarding benefits to veterans and their families. Requests are as diverse as burial markers, lost documents, replacement medals and information regarding benefits for veterans.

The Town has received notice that the Veterans Service Officer which services the Town of Weston will no longer be able to perform these duties on behalf of the Town.  This was a sudden decision and we are currently working with the West Suburban Veterans’ District to find a replacement.  As a result there may be a delay in responding to inquiries until a replacement is found.  We are sorry for any inconvenience. Nursing Home Care

VA benefits provide for a range of long-term services which include:
  • Adult Day Care
  • Domiciliary Care
  • Geriatric Evaluation
  • Nursing Home Care
  • Respite Care
Nursing home benefits may be provided for a service-connected condition or if the veteran has a service-connected disability rating of 70% or more. These veterans are eligible for admission to extended care services and indefinite care in a VA nursing home. Veterans may be discharged from nursing home care when it is no longer needed, i.e., if the needs can be met at home or in a private nursing home closer to the family.
