Responding to and Preventing COVID-19 and other Respiratory Viruses
Our individual health, and that of our loved ones, is improved when our collective health is attended to!
To receive free COVID-19 test kits from the federal government for free home delivery, please visit www.covid.gov/tests or call 1-800-232-0233 (TTY 1-888-720-7489). You can order tests for loved ones and friends who don't have computer access for free shipment right to their home. We have a limited supply of tests for the public free of charge at Town Hall during business hours. Please keep tests on hand at home for when symptoms arise.
- Please stay home when you are sick: Follow workplace or school protocols to report absences. Call your doctor or child's pediatrician for medical advice. Follow this COVID-19 Guidance for the General Population from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Follow this guidance on COVID-19 for K-12 schools from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) and the Department of Early and Secondary Education (DESE).
- Test for COVID-19 if you are symptomatic. When COVID-19 case rates in the community, the likelihood of your symptoms being from a COVID-19 infection also increase. To slow the spread of the virus please test if you have symptoms. This guidance has not changed since October 31, 2022. Beginning September 25, every U.S. household can again place an order to receive four more free COVID-19 rapid tests delivered directly to their home. Click here to order, Need help placing an order for your at-home tests? Call 1-800-232-0233 (TTY 1-888-720-7489). Before You Throw Out "Expired" Tests: Check FDA's website to see if your COVID-19 tests' expiration dates have been extended. Tests are also available for purchase at most pharmacies. It's a good idea to keep a few on hand at home. There are free tests at Weston Town Hall during business hours while supplies last.
- If you test positive or are notified of an exposure:Follow this COVID-19 Guidance for the General Population. If you test positive you are responsible for notifying your own close contacts (people who you were with, indoors and unmasked, in the 48 hours before your symptoms started or you first had a positive test.)
- Keep masks on hand and wear them as needed: Learn more here. Free masks and tests are available at Weston Town Hall while supplies last during business hours.
- Vaccinations: Stay up to date on all your vaccinations, including those against COVID-19 and seasonal influenza (flu), and RSV if you age 60 and older.
- Wash your hands:Wash your hands often and with vigor under warm running water, especially before eating, cooking, and after using the bathroom.
- Seek Treatment: Over age 50, live in congregate care (nursing home or long term care facility, or assisted living), or have an underlying medical condition? Talk to your doctor about treatment options for both COVID-19 and flu.
- Air Ventilation: Improve your air ventilation at home. This is particularly helpful for holiday gatherings. Learn more about air exchanges in public buildings here.
